Release Date

So Friday night Apple released their new iPad 2.

Jim has been wanting an iPad since they were first released.

However, we normally wait for the second generation of electronic gadgets to come out before we'll purchase them. That way the bugs/problems (if any) have been worked out. We also normally wait for the newness to wear off so that we can actually get our hands on them.

This was not the case for this product. I actually went to the mall to wait in line 2.5 hours before they were even releasing it. Here's the photo I took from my place in line. Turn left and go about a block or so more and you'll get to the store. 2.5 hours before the release and I was a little over 2 blocks away from the store. There were about 120 people ahead of me in line.

So 4.5 hours later I walk out of the mall with the iPad 2 and a smart cover in my possession. It wasn't exactly what Jim wanted, but I did get what he felt he needed. And that's good enough for me.

I will NEVER do something like that again. Things were organized, Apple handed out waters and candy, one restaurant was taking orders and delivering food and everyone was friendly enough. Thankfully I'd thought ahead and brought a book. Even saw someone from one of my groups that I hadn't seen in a while. She was kind enough to loan me a child so I could save my place in line while I ran to the bathroom.

The next day we went to the mall again and I mapped out the line for Jim and showed him where I was. He was very grateful that I had done this for him. He even took me out once I got home for dinner and drinks. Yay!

Crash

Michelle's hard drive has crashed. She has lost some pictures, some documents and some iTunes songs. I have ordered another one and a new operating system for her computer. It will be some time, perhaps a week, before it's back up and running.

That leaves me in charge of posting.

We're in trouble folks.

New Evil

Not too long ago one of Jim's classmate's introduced me to a new evil addiction going by the name of Webkinz. Sure they look innocent enough. It's just a little stuffed animal with a code that you go to this website and type in. You name and adopt the animal and it becomes a virtual pet. Innocent right? Yeah right. That little pet gets a room and you have to feed him, play with him, take him to school and buy stuff for him. It's very addictive.

It was started by teachers for children because apparently there were parents complaining about pets in the classroom. I'm not going to get into all of that. It can be a very educational site. Teaching kids how to manage their Webkinz cash and how to earn more and lots of educational stuff. But it's very addictive for adults as well. Sadly I've become one of those.

Hello my name is Michelle and I'm a Webkinz addict. And I will do all in my power to spread this evil disease among my friends. Insert the evil laughter here! Yes I know I'm warped.

Obsession

So Jim set up the Wii on Friday (insert the angels singing here) and we really haven't gone out much this weekend. And sadly it was a gorgeous weekend. It was 70 degrees yesterday! The Wii has it's deadly grip on us. We've played it a lot. Had lots of fun with it too! We just opened the windows to let in all that gorgeous air and continued to play. How sad! We're hooked!

I've put my foot down though. Today is another pretty day and I've informed Jim that we must go for a walk and enjoy the day. He's agreed and once he gets back from school, he had to go do some reading, we're going to do the Cliff Walk. Hooray!

The Cliff Walk is a big tourist attraction here in Newport. So I want to go walk it before tourist season kicks into high gear. Plus I'm hoping for some good pictures. Hopefully it won't be too over run with people. Here's hoping!

The Great Hunt

Jim's been wanting a Wii for a while. So this week I decided it was time for us to go get one. We have a DVR so we can record anything we want to watch. So there's no worrying about missing any of our favorite shows. It's a way for us to interact.

Tiny problem! The Wii is still in great demand. I'd been waiting for the demand to die down in the hopes of making it easier to find a game console. This was not to be. My search became frustrating. Jim just chuckled. Sometimes I think he likes it when I get truly frustrated.

I could have ordered one off of Amazon.com, but it was more expensive and I'd have to pay shipping. The price didn't bother too much. I just didn't want to wait for it to arrive. Plus I knew I could get it for less from Wal-Mart or some other store. I wanted to purchase the game console and walk out with it. Instant gratification right? So sue me. I'm determined to do this my way.

What the hubby doesn't know is that there is now a Wii game console sitting on the other couch waiting for him to come home. Which will be soon. That's right I found one! I called around this morning trying to find one. That's right I wised up. No sense driving around trying to find this when I can do this without wasting expensive gas. The Wal-Mart in Fall River, MA had two left, so I hoped in the car and scurried on over there. It's not that far. And I'm pleased with myself.

Hooray for us! I just got the basic console. I'm leaving getting the extras up to Jim. Hey he has to have some fun. Plus I'll let him do the set up. That and I know we can get the extras from the Wal-Mart near us.
